Greetings! Today I would like to wish Chuck and Georgia a very happy and blessed 60thWedding Anniversary! Congratulations to this wonderful couple, married April 19, 1958. So awesome : ) I have been admiring the anniversary card, made by our Ann, which will be from our church family. On the front of the card there is a photo of Chuck and Georgia on their wedding day, a most handsome couple! If you would like to join in the celebration, we will be serving cake and coffee following the morning service this Sunday in honour of this momentous occasion.
Speaking of Ann, she drove over to the church this afternoon for the first time on her scooter - and what a beauty it is! It's a 'Cadillac' of a scooter! Congratulations, Ann, we hope you enjoy this new mode of transportation. Ann wanted to see how long it would take to drive from her house to the church, a practice for Sunday. 16 minutes.
Pastor Vern has included a 'healing of human hurts' time in this Sunday's service. Prayer and anointing available for all. I invite you to put some thought and prayer into the days leading to Sunday and prepare to participate if you would like to. The team practiced last night and Rod and Dawn have selected some beautiful and appropriate music.
New Horizons (our seniors): this coming Monday will be the last New Horizons gathering until next fall. The speaker is Chris Montoya, a Christian psychology professor at Thompson Rivers University, and his topic is stress reduction. Lunch will follow.
Another trip to Gleaners in Lumby has been scheduled for Thursday, April 26 - talk to Linda or Hugh if you're interested in joining the team. Such a worthwhile endeavor.
A Baptismal Service has been planned for Sunday, May 6. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Vern.
From Earl and Anne: 'Are you interested in being on the contact list for events sponsored by the FMCC Trailblazers (e.g. hikes in summer, snowshoeing in winter)? If so, please talk to Earl or Anne. Contact the church office for their contact information.
Here's a note from Vessy, the Principal at Brock Middle School next door: "I am continually in awe of how much you serve our kids in so many ways. I love that we are neighbours, and certainly appreciate the time, energy and love that you and your group put in to our youth. Thank you so much! You rock!" (I should mention that as well as our regular Student Cafe, last week, in honour of the people of Humboldt, Marvyn had a display at the breakfast and about half that day's 130 or so students signed the card that said, 'Pray for Humboldt'. He also took the display over when the school had a moment of silence one day last week. Thanks, Marvyn.)
One final and special announcement: 'Save the Date' - we plan to honour Pastor Vern and Jackie on Saturday, June 2 for their 30 years of faithful service at our church. More information to follow.
Well, that is a lot of announcements - I should blog more often. See you Sunday!
