Hi! Okay, so I'm not so great at blogging and weeks tick by with no 'news' blog. But that doesn't mean FMCC is uneventful. Because there are some announcements, here I am once again.
First off, the count is in - we collected 237 Christmas Shoeboxes for Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child campaign. Thanks so much to everyone who took the time to shop and put together shoeboxes this year! And pay the minimum $10 shipping fee per box. It adds up quite quickly. I know one family works on this project year round - they brought 66 boxes!!! Sunday was 'collection day' and there was a mountain of beautiful red and green boxes full of wonderful gifts and other items for the children. Remember to keep praying as the boxes are processed and eventually delivered to each child. We have heard many stories of particular boxes reaching particular children, in answer to their specific prayer! Only God can orchestrate such miracles! He is so good : )
Christmas Event: we are now taking reservations for the turkey dinner at our annual Christmas Event. There are still vacancies at all sittings, 5:00, 6:15 and 8:00 PM. A lady from the community called in a reservation for 14 this afternoon, so it's filling up fast. In preparation, we are needing 24 apple pies and more volunteers are always welcome. Hard to believe it's only two weeks away. Read past blogs if you'd like to know what our Christmas Event is all about right now. I'll be posting more details soon...
Kids Church: 'Kingdom Rock' rocked! The new theme is 'Journey to Christmas'. This is for kids age 2 - Grade 6, by the way. Thanks, Wayne and Charlotte, for the awesome job you do Sunday after Sunday, we appreciate you : )
Sisters'n Stitching are having a Christmas lunch at Senor Froggy Mexican Restaurant Tuesday, December 5th (yum). This will be their wrap-up and the group plans to start meeting again January 2, 11:30 AM - 3:30 PM. I've seen all kinds of wonderful creations they've been working on as I journey past to the kitchen to refill my coffee mug. Be sure to let Edith know if you are planning to go to Senor Froggy's. (Notice I typed 'Senor', not 'Senior', lol)
Please check the calendar or read your Sunday bulletin for more announcements, e.g. New Horizon's 'Christmas in November', Ladies Christmas Evening, 'Christmas Love' and so on, both awesome and very worthwhile upcoming events.
Last Sunday was Membership Sunday and we welcome into full membership new members, all Js, Jon, Jason and Jeremy!
Our Church Treasurer would like to comment on the Roof Building Project, Phase 4. Estimated need for Phase 4 is $17,000-20,000. We have some monies left over from the last completed section which will go towards Phase 4. If you'd like to donate above regular tithes, please mark your donation 'Roof Building Project'. We need to be faithful in maintaining our church building, so thank you so much for your ongoing support.
Finally, our Pastoral Leadership Task Force, (Anne (chair), Debbie (yours truly), Jon, Rod and Wayne) has been elected, prayed for by our church family and has begun meeting. Last Thursday we all crowded into my office around Anne's laptop and had an introductory Skype meeting with Marc McAlister. We have specific guidelines to follow from FMCiC and have a lot of work ahead of us. We appreciate your continued prayer as we prepare to start searching for our new pastor. God already knows who he or she is and we are excited to be involved in discerning His will for the future! Of course, we are praying for the new pastor - and family - if he or she has a family.
Okay, that's it for now. Have a great rest of the week! Oh, and one more, come on out for choir practice Sunday at 4:00 if you can carry a tune and would like to join us. No 'Hallelujah Chorus' this year, it will be fun and easy!
