Hello! Well, do you think spring is finally here to stay? It's chilly again today ... but the calendar says we are into the first week of Spring. I do see green grass and all kinds of new growth in my perennial bed. A good sign for sure : )
One thing I do know is that Easter is almost here - Good Friday is the saddest day of the year, Easter Sunday, the happiest, most joyous! Jon sent me his set lists for Sunday worship - Palm Sunday, that is - and they look awesome - thanks, Jon! And I've just posted Pastor Vern's sermon outline, The Triumphal Entry. Be sure to join us Sunday at 10:30 AM.
'Experience Easter' in a fresh and spiritually renewing way this coming week as you participate in the following:
In the Upper Room, Maundy Thursday, March 29 at 7:00 PM. This is a quiet, spiritually enriching time as we 'walk with Jesus' through that last night as He washes the disciples' feet, shares the Last Supper with them and prays in the Garden of Gethsemane. There are three interactive stations to visit and spend thoughtful time at. The fellowship room is transformed into a beautiful, worshipful space. (Maundy Thursday was started at our church by Pastor Jason years ago and we have carried on this beautiful tradition.)
At the Cross, Good Friday Service March 30 at 10:30 AM. This is a time of reflection remembering Christ's sacrifice as He gave His life on the cross for you and me. We sing a capella and close our time with a Communion Service.
At the Empty Tomb! Easter Sunday, April 1 begins with a Continental Breakfast served between 8:30 - 9:30 AM. Breakfast is followed by a 'traditional' Easter Hymn Sing (great old hymns like The Old Rugged Cross, Christ Arose, He Lives!) Our Easter Celebration Service at 10:30 AM is the highlight. Maybe someday we can have all the flags again! Even without our gold and purple flag parade, be sure, Jesus' Resurrection is worth celebrating! We are preparing two classical pieces, including four hands at one piano, for special music. As well, the team will lead in some great worship music.
(Side Note: Edith is inviting you to bring muffins or hot cross buns to help with the breakfast Easter Sunday. Please give me a call at the church office if you'd like to bake and donate. Thanks!)
