    Thank You! / Announcements

    October 31, 2017

    Hello all!

Special note from Marianne and Ruth - to date, $2,510.00 has been raised for the Belot teachers. Thank you so much for your generosity, Church Family! If you missed the opportunity go attend our Spaghetti Lunch Fundraiser, there's still time to donate until the end of the year.

Another thank you! During October, as every October, we have collected non-perishable food items for distribution by our local Salvation Army to those in need. This is the final week - the S.A. will be coming to pick up our donations at the end of the week.

World Relief Sunday saw $955.00 come in to directly benefit economic and agricultural programs in drought-stricken East Africa where there is malnutrition and even starvation. Thank you for joining the global church team to help in practical ways. "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." Proverbs 11:25.

The Christmas Shoebox Campaign is well under way. This is our 21st year of participating and collection date is November 19th. Thanks so much for your annual involvement in this project that seems to be close to our hearts!

Now a few announcements: Linda will be speaking this Sunday - 'The Apostle's Creed - Part 7, The Second Coming'. Linda is a great teacher and speaker, you won't want to miss the next installment in this series.

If you missed last Sunday, you missed a special time led by Wayne Spence, our Church Delegate. Wayne introduced our newly formed Pastoral Leadership Task Force. The Church Family was invited to come forward to lay hands on the team as Pastor Vern prayed. The team is Anne Baker, chairperson, Rod Killough, Jon Howe, Debbie Halcrow and Wayne Spence. FMCC is now considered a church 'in transition' and we look forward to the Holy Spirit's leading as the team works through the very involved process of filling Pastor Vern's position as he retires. We appreciate Pastor Vern and Jackie and all they have done for FMCC, for our community, for the kingdom and for God. God definitely has a plan for the future and we will discern and follow the best we are able.

This week, please pray for Pastor Vern, attending FMCiC Board of Administration meetings November 2-4. As well, Jeremy Kneeshaw will be attending a Wesleyan Theology foundational course in Saskatoon, SK November 3-5.

Speaking of Jeremy, our Pastoral Student Intern, he's a very busy guy! Some of what keeps him so busy ... attending classes out at Sunnybrae - and lots of studying, leading the Young Adult Bible Study, (meeting individually with ... young adults, of course), he is involved with worship almost every Sunday, shows up for Student Cafe, and helps at Kids Church occasionally. As well, he is part of the youth leadership team out in Westsyde Tuesday nights. He is always at the Church on Wednesdays, usually from 6:30 am to about 4:30 pm. Aside from Wednesdays, Jeremy is at the church at rather odd hours. MC'ing at various TRU games and playing music out and about in the community take up a bit of time and though there aren't enough hours in the day, he can usually make time for a visit over coffee.

Hello November! ... can you believe it? Check out our calendar for upcoming meetings and events. Christmas preparations are underway already and now would be a good time to mark Friday, December 8th as the day for our annual Christmas Event. We will be needed lots of volunteers before long, thanks in advance. As well, our annual Christmas Ornament Workshop and our Ladies Christmas Evening are nice traditions and always seem to signal the start of the Christmas season.

Have a good rest of the week. Hope to see you Sunday! Almost forgot to mention our Acoustic Ensemble, led by Barry S. will be playing/singing this Sunday. And there will be a really special treat, a flute/piano duet!
