    1 Peter 2: 4-10

Peter challenges the followers of Jesus with the mission of viewing their lives as an opportunity to be used by God in all situations. Because of Jesus they are uniquely situated to live out their faith.

    • Peter is believed to be in Rome and under scrutiny
    • Nero accused Christians of burning Rome and ordered intense persecution
    • Peter writes to the Christians of Asia Minor who were fleeing Rome and persecution as they scattered to numerous places as the searched for relative safety(1Pet 5:9-11)
    • Peter encourages them to remain true to Jesus despite their difficulties at the emperor’s hand
    • Challenge to be strong even when life turns out different or more difficult than we planned

    • Solid structure can be built upon this stone
    • Jesus is our foundation
    • Our life can take true shape from this point

    • Building a life without this foundation creates stumbling points

    • Without Jesus we find ourselves trying to pick up the pieces
    • Trying to build a life by ignoring Jesus is to settle for uneven living

    • Because of Jesus we are called to step out of darkness
    • Because of Jesus we are a chosen people with kingdom privileges
    • Because of Jesus we are a people given kingdom opportunities to live out our faith
    • Because of Jesus we are called to be a holy people even with all the changes and pressures
    • Because of Jesus we have the responsibility to ‘… Build up the wall and stand before Me in the gap’ Eze 22:30
    • Seize the opportunity of being a believer with influence and integrity for Jesus sake

    APPLICATION
