    'Why Church?' by Pastor Vern

    September 8, 2017

    Heb 10: 19-25

Have you ever given thought to what it is that the local church is about? What do we try to accomplish every week and what are signs that we are being effective in what we are doing? Today we want to review our core values and be reminded of our Mission and Vision.

Vision Statement: To be a Christ-like people who intentionally influence our world to know Christ.

    Hebrews 10: 19-25

    1 FOCUS

Ø  Let us draw near – come right in - vrs 22

Ø  Let us hold unswervingly – without wavering hold on tightly – vrs 23

Ø  Let us consider how we may spur one another on – think about encouragement – vrs 24

Ø  Let us not give up meeting together – don’t neglect, ignore or put off – vrs 25

    2 FOUNDATION

Ø  Biblical Faithfulness – We make Scripture the final authority rather than Church tradition. We strive to communicate God’s word with integrity and authority so that seekers find Christ and believer mature in Him.

Ø  Prayer – We rely on private and corporate prayer in conception, planning, and execution of all the ministries and activities of our church.

Ø  Spiritual Maturity – We believe that the pursuit of full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer and results in Christ-likeness.

Ø  Authentic Worship – We desire to acknowledge God’s supreme value and worth in our lives and in the corporate worship of our church.

Ø  Grace Oriented Community – We emphasize God’s unconditional love, acceptance and full forgiveness through Jesus Christ, and everything that we do.

    3 FRUIT

Ø  Intentional Outreach – We believe all lost people matter to God and therefore should matter to our church, whether part of our local community or the global community.

Ø  Spiritual Gifts – We encourage every person to discover and exercise the gifts God has given them for effective ministry in our church.

Ø  Holistic Stewardship – We desire to effectively manage all the resources that have been entrusted to us by God, including our time, money, relationships, opportunities, material possessions, and abilities.

Ø  Leadership Development – We seek to equip all our uniquely designed and gifted people to effectively accomplish the work of our ministry.

Ø  Small Groups – We ask all our people to commit to fully participate in Biblically functioning Small Groups where they may reach the lost, exercise their spiritual gifts, be shepherded and thus grow

    Application

Ø  Our focus is to enjoy church together

Ø  Our foundation helps us to grow and become stronger as the church
